Welcome Friends and family to my
Typical
Day site
This will be the third time I have redid this page. Lets see if I can make it more organized.
Basic Chores:
Dads Chores: Move sheep, Repair anything on farm or house, Help randy make rabbit boxes, Take care of the Bee hives. Takes care of the field. Processing time he is in charge of the Kill Cones and scalding and final inspection of chickens/turkeys. He will also do the processing for the rabbits and any home use meats. Garden duty along with fruit trees. Makes cheeses.
Moms Chores: Family household jobs, mow around the house, laying hens care including picking up eggs and cleaning them. Moving smaller coops for poultry or turkeys. Pecan dutys, picking up cracking. Garden duty along with fruit trees. Processing time I do the cutting and guttingand pull off any excess feathers if Randy or the chicken plucker leave any. Milk the goat. Make cheeses. I also do all the sales for the farm.
Mirandas Chores: Feed/water cats, dog, chicks and her rabbits. She gets a biweekly allowance for this, the inside chores like her room, bathroom cleaning plus washing and putting away her clothes is not part of the allowance. We do not believe in paying allowance for family chores. The Rabbits are her business, she will sell them to the 4-H and as meat the profits will go to feed, her savings account and the rest for her to spend. Process time Miranda is Plucker machine girl she puts the chickens in plucker for them to spin to take feathers off.
Tommy Chores: At this time I am happy if he just keeps his room clean. When he gets older he will be in charge of the Poultry & Turkeys.
Here is a typical day for us:
Mornings:
5:30-6:30 Husband leaves to work
6:30 or 7:30 My son Tommy or I are get up.This depends on the season & if we have chicks to move. If its hot I have to do chores earlier. Tommy watches his educational cartoons like Dora or Blues Clues with his juice I left the night before in the fridge for him. I get dressed fix bed, put load in dryer, put dishes away if in dishwasher. I make and eat breakfast. I also check my email & make any calls for that morning.
8:00 or 8:30 Daughter gets up fixes her bed, washes up, eats breaksfast, does her chores checks her email then starts her work on her own. She reads two chapters from a book she is reading. Practices her Cursive writing, Does an educational computer game. Studys for a spelling test of 5 words a day.
While she is doing that I will go outside with walkie talkie to keep in touch and do my chores and check around the ranch to make sure everything is ok. When I come back in we will do some subjects or a project together.
Afternoon:
About lunch time son is ready to go outside and his sister will take a break and go outside with either a book or her game boy or they go fly a kite. She has her baby rabbits to cuddle with, I make lunch and make calls if I need to finish them up. We usually eat outside if it’s nice. Daughter will go check our mailbox for mail, She loves getting mail from the postcard kids project.
If everything is done we have free time. I get on my computer, read or take short nap and daughter will do the same. She has her own computer and playstation. Son is having a snack about this time and playing with his toys.
Evening: Chores again start around 4pm during winter 5pm during summer , and dinner is usually 6-7 depending on when husband gets home son has a job of setting the table. Sometimes the neighbor boys come visit us. Tommy will help his sister unload the dishwasher again if we did another load. We clean up and watch tv if we have time or read.
8pm they take bath
9pm they are in bed. Mom cleans up for night last minute things. Husband gets on computer or reads and watches tv if nothing has to be done outside that needs his attention. Right now it gets dark when he comes home. When the time changes he will be outside a lot more.
10pm-11pm. Husbands in bed. I will stay up even if I am sleepy just to get my alone time. I take a hot shower sitting in my seat shower for a long, long time. Then watch my favorite shows House Hunters- Mission organization, What not to Wear, Landscaping challenge, , and regular shows like Law and Order if its showing re runs. I just got into watching "Friends show" which I never did watch when it came out. I am enjoying watching reruns that I never saw.
Subjects: The subjects we work on each day are different. We dont do it all subjects in one day. We will focus on one or two subject for the day unless we are doing a unit study. What ever I feel she needs help in the most will get the most attention. On Fridays is Tv day check out the TV site on how we use Tv for educational purposes.
One of the best books I have found to see at what level my children should be at is.... Example: "What every S econd grader should know" they have this in each class level. You could buy them but most librarys will have them.
We use Abeka, Library books, Unit studies, Movies, Mc Graw hill books and a lot of the Internet!
Not every day is like above check why:
Fridays we go to park day with Home schoolers with one of our home school groups for about two hours.
Some days we have field trips with other family’s at least once a month or someone offers something to home schoolers like the Sea world Home School day or the Houston space day Home school day.
Some days we have people visit our farm and we show them around.
Some nights My daughter spends at least -two -three times a month overnights with her friends and vice versa.
Every other week I go into town with kids to deliver eggs and have lunch with friends, movies, shopping.
Some days we go shopping in town here, hit the cleaners and post office. Some days we go visit my sister or mother. No matter what we do for the day though we always do our chores. The animals have to eat and be watched over.
Once a month we have a party at our house with family and friends over. We have such a nice place we love to show off why not? Ever saw the movie "Fools rush in" at the family gathering? Thats us!
Once a month is 4-H meetings or events
Every summer -Miranda goes a week to Girl Scout summer camp
Processing days is when we process the poultry/turkey we raised for just this day. Our friends/customers will pre order and they will come over that day to pick up their chickens, with eggs, honey, lamb meat etc...Miranda will help in this, Tommy is too young.
