Artisan Cheese
Hello Welcome to my Artisan cheese Page. On the left hand side of here you will see different areas of other interest on our homestead. We are just starting out making different cheeses. We have made mozzarella cheese, Farm cheddar cheese and Ricotta cheese from raw and pasterized cows milk.
You might want to know exactly what Artisan cheese is cheese made thoughtfully by hand, usually in small batches not in big factorys. The milk for artisan cheese is purchased from a high quality source. We are in the process of milking my first goat here soon so I will be using her milk to practice making different kinds of cheese. I will update this site as I progress. We have recently bought two part friesian rams to mate with our barbadoe which should bring us a higher yield of sheep milk. Are goal is to breed a Texas breed of milking sheep to make artisan cheese.
We also have plans on making a commerical kitchen near our barn to do this in perhaps including having cheese classes. We plan to do this while debt free so this will take a few years of good sheep breeding, building slowly and finding the equipment we need to make the Food manufactures Health code list.
In the future we plan to put down a lot of the recipes for now here is my msn site where I am keeping them I am hoping to place them in a different spot someday http://groups.msn.com/CountryRecipes/cheeserecipes.msnw
Also other wonderful resources can be found at
This site will have different cheeses from different animal milk and a little history on each one.
This is a great site to discuss Artisan cheese making http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Artisan_Cheesemakers/
Here is another one that also contains stuff with cheese in it http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CHEESE-RECIPE/
